The Cambrian Mountains Astro Trail begins at nearby Llyn Brianne, giving visitors a perfect starting point to explore some of the best stargazing spots in Wales. Visit Brecon Beacons National Park International Dark Sky Reserve and check out their favourite ten places to go stargazing.


Autumn is one of the best seasons to visit Cambrian Escapes for stargazing. During this time, the Milky Way stretches across the sky, dazzling with billions of stars visible to the naked eye. Guests may also spot constellations like Cygnus (the Swan) and Cassiopeia, along with seasonal meteor showers such as the Draconids and the Orionids. Seasonal Stargazing Calendar

One of the unique advantages of Cambrian Escapes is that every season offers something new in the night sky:

  • Autumn: Sweeping views of the Milky Way, constellations like Cassiopeia, and meteor showers including the Orionids and Draconids.
  • Winter: Crisp, long nights reveal the iconic constellation Orion and the dazzling Pleiades star cluster. Winter skies are perfect for spotting distant galaxies.
  • Spring: A time for spotting planets like Venus and Jupiter, along with constellations such as Leo and Virgo. Meteor showers like the Lyrids add to the spectacle.
  • Summer: Short nights, but stunning opportunities to see the core of the Milky Way, along with the Perseids meteor shower, one of the brightest displays of the
